Senegal is preparing to welcome young athletes around the world for Africa’s first Olympic sporting event, as the countdown to the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) enters its final stretch, with just 100 days to go. Excitement is building for the groundbreaking event, and speaking at a press conference to mark the milestone the President of Dakar 2026 Mamadou Diagna Ndiaye said Africa is ready. “What Senegal and Africa are offering the world is not, first and foremost, medals. These Games are a laboratory. The world is watching us and asking: can Africa do it? We answer: no. It’s not CAN Africa do it, Africa IS doing it!”
