STORY SCRIPT: The Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee met in-person today ahead of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. IOC President Thomas Bach described it as an ‘emotional’ reunion after over a year apart because of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. COVID countermeasures including mask-wearing and social distance were respected throughout the meeting. A video message from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was played during the meeting and he sent this message to the world: “Seeking peace and finding common goals is even more important this year as we strive together to find a strong, sustainable and inclusive global recovery.”
