Zak Carrick-Smith has won slalom gold to win his third medal of his historic Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon 2024, while Austrian Maja Waroschitz also won her second gold. 16 year-old Carrick-Smith’s two golds and a silver are Britain’s first ever alpine skiing medals in any Winter Olympics event. The talented teenager stayed consistent in both runs to finish 0.05 seconds better than Elliot Westlund (SWE) in a thrilling competition, with Nash Huot-Marchand (FRA) taking bronze. In his sensational week in Gangwon Carrick-Smith, who is from a family of competitive skiers, won the Men’s Alpine Combined and silver in the Giant Slalom.
