      Japan’s Shimada Mao skated to gold in the Women’s Singles, while the French Pair of Ambre Perrier Gianesini and Samuel Blanc Klaperman won the Ice Dancing at the Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon 2024. 15-year-old Shimada produced the top marks in both the Short Program and Free Skating at the Gangneung Ice Centre. Shin Jia (KOR) had raised the hopes of a home win at the Gangneung Ice Arena with an excellent free skate, which did clinch her silver. Takagi Yo completed a good competition for Japan with bronze. In the Ice Dance 16-year-olds Perrier Gianesini and Blanc Klaperman dominated the competition, with best marks in both the Rhythm Dance and Free Dance. Perrier Gianesini can celebrate her 17th birthday on Wednesday (Jan 31) with a gold medal for France.
