Germany powered to the first gold medal of the final day of action at the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Gangwon 2024 in the cross-country skiing mixed relay event at the Alpensia Biathlon Centre. The quartet of Sarah Hofmann, Jonas Mueller, Lena Einsiedler and Jakob Elias Moch were too strong for the rest of the field. Germany were fourth after Hofmann and Mueller completed the classic legs of the 4 x 5km race. They had been leading after the first leg but Mueller struggled on the second. He handed over to Einsiedler in fourth after falling. But she soon caught the leading pack in the first of the two freestyle legs. She handed over to Moch in third place and he powered through for victory by almost 10 seconds.
