A Refugee Olympic Team is preparing to make its debut at the Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2026, marking a significant milestone in the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) commitment to supporting refugees through sport.
Dakar 2026 will be the first Olympic sporting event ever held on the African continent and the first time a Refugee Olympic Team has competed in a Youth Olympic Games. It will raise awareness about the global displacement crisis and demonstrate the Olympic spirit of inclusion by uniting young athletes from diverse backgrounds.
