The IOC offers the following Video News Release to all news agencies, broadcasters and online news platforms free of charge. Swiss skier Amelie Klopfenstein has picked up her second gold medal at the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Lausanne 2020, winning in the Women’s Alpine Giant Slalom. It follows up her victory in the Women’s Alpine Super-G on the opening day of competition of the Games. The 17-year-old finished 5th on her opening run, struggling to win a medal of any colour. But she put in a superb second and final run to see off her rivals, finishing overall in 2:08.68. She finished 0.14 seconds faster than Finland’s Rosa Pohjolainen, who clocked the fastest time in the opening run. Austria’s Amanda Salzgeber, gold medallist in the Women’s Combined Slalom, won bronze. Klopfenstein only got her place on the Swiss team due to an injury to her close friend Delphine Darbellay a couple of weeks ago.
