India is at the heart of a major education and learning programme working hand-in-hand with the International Olympic Committee. Olympic values are being explored through sport, film, photography, art and educational projects. The Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) has been thriving in the state of Odisha, with the non-profit Abhinav Bindra Foundation playing a key role. Bindra became India’s first individual Olympic Gold medallist when he won in the men’s 10-metre air rifle event at the Olympic Games Beijing 2008. Thousands of children have been playing and learning Olympic sports and values while parents and teachers have taken part in ‘train the trainers’ sessions - over sixty thousand parents in Odisha have already been part of community immersion sessions while OVEP has joined the school curriculum for children.
