It was a day of mixed emotions for Angel Daleman (NED), who won the Women’s 500m Speed Skating at the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) but missed out on a rare double as she missed out on victory in the Short Track 500m several hours later. The 16-year-old was going for gold in both disciplines and her day started perfectly as she won the opening event in the Speed Skating competition. Racing in the final pairing of the day, Daleman posted a time of 39.02 secs to take gold ahead of Jung Huidan (KOR) and Sasabuchi Waka (JPN). Her dream of a double ended at the semi final stage of the short track 500m.
