Description
Kenya’s first ever male athlete at the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) has been hailed a hero for his performances at Gangwon 2024. Issa Laborde competed in Alpine skiing and managed to complete the course in all four disciplines he took part in, finishing inside the top 50 of the slalom (35th), giant slalom (37th), super G (41st) and Alpine combined (35th). Two-time Olympic medallist and former marathon world record-holder Paul Tergat, the International Olympic Committee member for Kenya, watched Laborde complete the men’s combined and said the 16-year-old had made the whole country proud.
