New Zealand’s young freeskiers dominated the men’s freeski halfpipe and People’s Republic of China also won a gold and silver, in the women’s event, on the penultimate day of the Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Gangwon 2024. Luke Harrold won New Zealand’s first gold of the Games, with compatriot Finley Melville Ives closely behind in silver and Alan Bornet (SUI) taking bronze at the Welli Hilli Park Ski Resort. China’s 16-year-old Liu Yishan was in full control of the women’s freeski halfpipe from the start, producing the three best runs of the entire competition, with a winning score of 92.25 from her second run.
