The excitement and honour of hosting the Youth Olympic Games is being passed through the streets of Senegal with just ten days to go until the Opening Ceremony of Dakar 2026. This will be the first time an Olympic sporting event has ever been held on the continent of Africa and the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic flame is on its final journey ahead of a fortnight of action. With the theme ‘pass the energy’, the flame has been on the road for over a month, touching all14 regions of Senegal to mark this groundbreaking fourth edition of the Youth Olympic Games. While thousands have come to the streets to be part of the Olympic buzz, torchbearers have spoken of their pride at hosting the Youth Olympic Games and inspiring young people.
