South Korea’s Young You cited winning an Olympic gold medal as a lifetime ambition. She started this journey with a gold at the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Lausanne 2020. “Because it’s the Youth Olympics, so it’s a very good chance for me to perform here before the Beijing 2022 Olympics, a good chance to show my programme here. It’s very good for me to learn something on the Olympics too, so I hope I can be better in the next few years,” she said. The 17-year old from Seoul, who has already won a national championship and currently lives in the United States, lists ‘Frozen’ as her favourite movie but opted to perform to the to the soundtrack of Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s musical, ‘Evita’, During the course of her routine, a triple lutz, followed by a single Euler and a Triple Salchow was among the moves she executed, along with a step sequence and a change foot combination spin. You ended on a fly camel spin to the enthusiastic applause of a packed crowd. Russia’s Ksenila Sinitsyna won silver with her compatriot Anna Frolova winning bronze.
