Emma Sahlin of Sweden overtook her Swiss rival on the second and final of their two runs to claim gold in the Women’s Alpine Skiing Slalom. Sahlin, 17, pipped Lena Volken by 0.18 seconds finishing in an aggregate time of 1:29.82 seconds for her two runs. Both had built up a healthy advantage from the opening run over the rest of the field as conditions at Les Diablerets began to decline. It left Volken with the silver medal. Lara Klein of Germany won bronze.
