Nikolai Holmboe of Norway emerged triumphant in the sprint for gold among Scandinavian rivals in the Men’s Cross-Country Free at the Winter Youth Olympics (YOG), Lausanne 2020. 17-year old Holmboe broke clear with just over 100m to go to claim gold from his Swedish rivals. He won by 1.77 seconds in 4 minutes 9.97 seconds over the two lap 1,800m course. Sweden’s Edvin Anger held on for the silver medal his compatriot, Albin Aastroem won bronze.
