      The IOC offers the following Video News Release to all news agencies, broadcasters and online news platforms free of charge. Sweden’s Edvin Anger enjoyed a tremendous battle with Norway’s Nikolai Holmboe before emerging victorious with gold in the men’s cross-country skiing free sprint final. 17-year-old Anger from Mora won by half a second in 3 minutes 10.97 seconds. It left Holmboe with a  silver medal to add to his gold in the free cross competition, when he beat Anger into silver 24 hours earlier. The bronze medal was won by Aleksander Holmboe. The sprint event begins with individual time trials on the competition course with a 15 second interval start.  The fastest 30 competitors advance to the quarter-finals consisting of five heats of six competitors each. The top two finishers in each quarter-final heat, and the next two fastest competitors from the quarter-finals, advance to the two semi-finals of six competitors each. The top two finishers in each semi-final heat, and the next two fastest competitors from the semi-finals, advance to the final of six competitors.
